Well, we leave for Denver in 3 hours. I have my stuff packed, my boarding passes printed, and have taken a shower so as not to offend anyone on the plane.

See you later today!

Impromptu and Finals

I got one round of Impromptu before I was out of the running. Oh well.

I went to see HI finals today. I realized a few things about what makes a good HI.

1. Multiple characters with distinct voices and mannerisms
2. Crisp, clean transitions
3. A story/conversation being the bulk of it, not a monologue.
4. Appropriate physicality
5. Humor (a big one here)
6. A script written to be humorous (sorry people who wanted to use Twilight as an HI)

Good morning Baltimore

I am here at Park Hill High School abot to compete against 270 people in Impromptu.

This is insane. No this is madness. No this is Sparta.

THIS IS MADNESS

it is storming like crazy. No game.

Forensics is an english credit

I am number 282 in HI

VLOG Day 3

Oh yeah, today was the day I dropped the camera.

Lost in Registration

Well, I'm registered for impromptu and we've gotten lost so many times today.

VLOG Day 2

In which I use more music from a game Mom still won't let me buy... oh, and the internet here sucks.

The tragic end to my VLOGGING

Our beloved camera has managed to sustain a terrible eye wound that will make it unable to see anything more on our trip. Henceforth, there will be no more VLOGs.

I know. Sad chili.

On the plus side, Veronica and Connor now have birthday present.

Day Three

I FOUND MOM'S PHONE! HURRAY!

Well, I didn't make it (I know, I know, it's okay to cry) but I had a great time competing with this script and I look forward to impromptu on Thursday.

VLOG Day 2 will be up later.

Kenny, Nemo is with Yola.

VLOG Day 1

There WERE Tunderstorms actually. It was awesome.

Sorry this is late. The stupid internet was messing up again.

Round Foor Misdirections

I am so mad at that judge who disqualified us last year. There are people here who have savagely altered their scripts, which is a big no-no. That's what I got disqualified for last year. Ugh.

Anyways, Round Four was... good. I did well, but I rushed. However, there were all these metaphorical gay rights pieces. It got really old after a while. Not even the innuendo was funny.

So after that Yola and I got horribly lost and had to rely on the incredibly stupid GPS system to guide us. The school isn't even on the map.

Now we're going out to dinner. Should be fun.

Round three

A good round. Other pieces matched mine.

Round two

I feel like I just competed in a round of interpretive dance

This round went well but there was so much singing and dancing. My script feels so different, like being at a concert and then doing a jay leno impersonation.

Round one

Sorry I haven't updated. Hotel internet isn't working.

Round 1 was intense. I had to add more to my to my piece in the 50 minutes I had before performing. Am so hyped right now.

Airport

Got into Portland International alright, made it through security okay. Mrs. Williams got her Diet Coke confiscated though. So we bought another one. We're about 40 minutes from leaving. Let you all know when we land... if my battery doesn't die.

Two days

Two days till departure. I've practiced. I've dry cleaned my suit. I've bought new shiny shoes. I'm ready.

I'd like to thank the students who watched me and critiqued me.

I'd like to thank the CSD for letting me go on this.

I'd like to thank my family for helping me, driving me around, and staying up late to coach me. Mom, I'll be fine. Stop calling me.

I'd like to thank my uber supportive team and I wish I could take you with me.

I'd like to thank Yola for being an amazing coach. Love you. You are awesome.

And I'd like to thank Jim Lintott, without whom we would not be able to have a team. Thank you so much for all your support over the years.

HI Run 2

I decided to do a second run through today. Figured it was good practice. This is the better one I think. It's a shame that it wasn't zoomed in further.

HI Run 1

Well, here's my first run of my HI. In all honesty, this isn't my best. I can already see some things that need to change, but it's still a good run. So I think I'll make a couple more videos of this and allow for comparisons. Might be interesting.

An Explanation of HI

Well, I'm sure there are some people reading this who aren't on the Forensics team who would love to know what it is I'll be doing. Well, this isn't my award winning skit, but it's an explanation so as not to freak anyone out. :P

In the beginning...

Well, here we are. A week away from Nationals.

Hi, I'm Austin Haworth. Over the next two weeks I will be updating this site to include details about the experience of Kansas City, Missouri, site of the NFL Nationals competition.

Expect a video soon explaining what exactly it is that I'm going to be doing at nationals so that when you see the actual skit, you aren't confused.

Well, I guess that's all I have to say. Later days.
